New toy

I've been saving up for a dSLR since before Christmas and decided it was time to pull the trigger:

I like this one because I was able to use the fact that the flower was falling apart to some advantage

I have the same one! It is a nice one, but I was coming from a little kodak easyshare.

I was there as well a while back. All of our honeymoon photos are from a 4mp Kodak.

It is so nice to see a difference. My honeymoon photos are all from a point and shoot 35mm film camera. They stink. Haha!

I'm thinking of getting a DSLR camera in a few months... your pictures look great. I love the cross-section of the flower, and of course, the gorgeous Fluffy!

I'm a fan of dSLRs and first, congrats! The first flower looks almost unreal, waxy around the edges while the center is vibrant. The second is my fav.

It's nice and a money sink, because I'm already researching new lenses to get and I enjoy wildlife and sports photography, which means a wide open zoom lens. I might have to sell my car for it! :)

There are so many technologies that we take for granted today that didn't exist when we were kids. I'm curious to see how good these cameras will be in 20 years!

I hope they are tough! It was a bit of surprise money that even allowed me to buy this one, I don't know if that will ever happen again! Haha!

yeah I pretty much asked my family to forego Christmas and birthday presents and give me money that was going to be saved for the camera.

Now it's time to save up for a good macro lens!

That is a GREAT idea! That is what I will request for my birthday! Kitts Camera gift cards! My birthday was in March, but two of my SIL's and a BIL have birthdays in spring, so we celebrate them all together. seasonal birthdays. ;-)

Oy! You are SO right! No offense to them, I know they love me, but sometimes I open a gift bag and wonder WTF were they thinking? Haha!

It's so much easier to focus through an optical viewfinder than with an LCD. I knew there would be a difference but I did not realize how large a difference.
