Radiohead: Comcast Center, Mansfield MA 08/13/08

I went to my first Radiohead show last night and was very impressed.  They have a great sound, are a super-tight band and still give themselves some room to have some fun with their songs so that you know they're live, not just replaying a record. 

I'll admit that I only recognized about half of the songs but still had a great time. 

Also, I'm going to go on a slight rant here and bitch about hippies.  I never expected to see hippies at a Radiohead show, and maybe all of them just happened to congregate in the aisle 10 feet from where I was standing.   And I'm talking tie-dye, birkenstock wearing hippies who were clearly doing a lot of psychedelic drugs. 

I was thinking that Radiohead is not the best band to trip or roll to.  A lot of their songs start off kinda happy and upbeat and quickly go hard, dark, and into heavy minor chords.  Several times I would watch the hippies doing their silly spinning hippie dances with their light sticks and glowing necklaces only to stop halfway through when the vibe went dark. 

Better stick with the Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic and Moe. guys.
