We went to a cookout at a friend's house today.  Despite the heat it was a lot of fun.  Here are some snapshots.

First up is a beautifully presented insalada caprese:

Next up was a very good white bean salad.  Yes, that's celery and yes, I picked it all out.  It was still fabulous

And I've said it time and time again.  Is there anything that is not made better by wrapping it in bacon?  I think not.

And dessert.  Mmmmm...dessert.  Chocolate ice cream cake drizzled with a syrup made from Bailey's Irish Creme.

And a few animal shots.  First a picture of Guinness, my friend's cat.  Named because his fur strongly resembles a Guinness just after pouring.  He's a very nice, affectionate cat (except when you grab him by the tale like Ben did, then he claws the heck out of you.)

Lastly were two squirrels who were pilfering the neighbor's bird feeder.  One of them would reach up and grab seeds and then hang (as shown) eating them.  Whatever he dropped was promptly scooped up by his buddy.

I feel kind of bad for the birds and the squirrels.  We saw yet another very large hawk making his/her presence known in my friend's backyard.  They'd best keep their heads up or they are just fattening themselves up for the slaughter.
