Too bad Boston tailed off so badly after their first album.
Always good to bang you head, and Metallica peaked on this album.
Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price. Will you buy the album? Do you buy the idea?
Yes and Yes. I think that by allowing customers to choose their price, they will have far less people attempting to download it for free. I think the fact that everyone knows that the band is going to get the money instead of a record company will play in as well.
Given the relatively large amount of music you get, I'll probably pay between $15-20 for the album.
I hope the band releases some statistics on how many copies were sold and what the average price per download was.
FWIW, Nine Inch Nails/Trent Reznor is declaring his freedom from the record companies as well. If Radiohead and NIN have some success with these ventures, I'd expect to see a lot of "name" bands do the same.
